welcome to Instinct
Welcome to the one and only TFL-approved fanlisting dedicated to Shiina Ringo (椎名林檎), the innovative, multilingual queen of Japanese rock. Whether you loved her as the awe-inspiring one woman show or as the current lead singer of the Tokyo Incidents (東京事変, Tokyo Jihen), this is the fanlisting for you! Feel free to look around and consider pledging your support for this wonderful musician.
What is a fanlisting, you ask? The long and the short of it is that it's exactly what it sounds like: a list of fans. It's not an "elitist" web clique demanding amazing sites -- you don't even have to have a site to join; it's just a fun way to rally together the fans of a certain subject. Want more information? ch-ch-changes
Following recent digital releases in Europe, Shiina Ringo's official site has been updated with an English mirror, complete with a comprehensive English discography (see the official English discography), thus Instinct's discography has been removed.
The referential booklet scans and have also been removed as to oblige the new fansite guidelines issued by the official site. Most of the codes have also been replaced.
Although I'm at a loss as to what to offer fans, I'm ultimately optimistic that the increasing attention to English-speaking fans will make future releases more accessible to fans outside of Japan. It's all about the music, after all.
ringo's song heard 'round the world
Shiina Ringo's latest single Kono Yo no Kagiri has made its debut in the world market thanks to digital music provider iTunes. Although the US and Canadian fans still have to wait, the rest of the world can now enjoy its Shiina Ringo (listed as "Ringo Sheena" in the UK) for the equivalent of 99 cents a song.
Additionally, the Tokyo Jihen/Tokyo Incidents' latest album Variety as well as its singles have also been added to the UK iTunes. At the moment (March 17, 2008) they have two artists pages, each with different material for purchase: Tokyo Incidents and Tokyo Jihen.
As for the rest of us stuck in the US and Canada, there's always iTunes' request feature.
